Social Awareness and Development Organization for Women (SAADOW) society was initiated in the year 1990 by 15 rural women in order to sustain their empowerment, to concentrate on child development and other aspects in the rural villages. At the initial level, the society was rendering its services only in the Kottampatti Block, Madurai District, covering 5 villages. Gradually the activities were extended up to Natham Block, Sanarpatti Block in Dindigul District.
For helping the Tsunami affected families, our society is functioning at Kadaladi Block, Ramanathapuram District covering 32 villages. In order to give alternative employment opportunities for youth, we are conducting training in the following areas:
- Tailoring
- Computer Operations
- Two-wheeler repair mechanism
- Cell phone repair mechanism.
With help and guidance of FVTRS Bangalore, 145 beneficiaries are benefitting from the above training programmes. We’ve also planned to concentrate on coastal development, dropout development, women development and other various need based projects in the future, in this area.
